Mohammed Salisu Southampton, this week’s most recent recruit, after a 10.9 million pound move from Real Valladolid la Liga.
The 21-year-old became the momentary acquisition of the Summer Saints after Kyle Walker-Peters permanently captured at Tottenham, while Pierre-Emile Hojbjerb was heading in the opposite direction, as reported in Vavel.
Ralph Hasenhuttl praised the agreement as a “signature”, talking to Soutmapton’s official website, said: “This is a signature for us. Mohammed is a player who adapts well to our profile.”
Considered through the gaffer, there is no doubt that a few months ago, the top saints enthusiasts probably wouldn’t even have heard of Salisu, so we’ll be offering you a glimpse of who the Ghanaian is and his career in football so far.
Born in his local Ghana on 17 April 1999, the defender also began his football career there.
Salisu joined Kumasi Barcelona Babies FC, who played in ghana’s Premier League of Colts as a teenager, before the Can Talent Football Academy in southern Ghana.
It was from there that the plant saw and signed through Real Valladolid La Liga in October 2017.
In January 2018, Salisu made his substitute debut in a 4–2 home defeat in Segunda División B against Coruxo and on 1 March his contract lasted until 2021.
The following summer in 2018, the 23-year-old went on to set up the first team and made his absolute debut in January 2019 in a 1-0 loss to Getafe in the Copa del Rey.
In March, his contract lasted for a year, after noticing his potential, and he got his first League to start in August with a 2–1 win over Real Betis.
Fernando Calero left for Espanyol that summer, which means that Salisu has become the first-choice central defender of the Spanish national team in the 2019–20 season, and played 31 times in the league and some other appearance in a cup match.
Real Valladolid finished 13th with 42 points, adding victories, 15 draws and 14 losses.
After an impressive season in La Liga, Southampton rushed to 10.9 million pounds with a lot of interest from others connected to Wolves, Newcastle, Manchester United, Everton and Watford.
The Ligue 1 team in Rennes had also tried to win the signature of highly qualified defenders, but surrendered because Salisu favored a movement in English, English being his local language and also his.
Since then, Salisu has discussed Southampton’s reputation for proposing young players as a component of the resolution of moving to the South Coast and hoped to be the next player to follow the game.
