How does the knockouts draw work?
The new Champions League format of groups being seeded and matched according to their final positions. For example, groups nine and 10 are together, 11 and 12 together, and so on to 23/24.
A team from the highest-ranked pairing (nine and 10) is then drawn against a team from the lowest-ranked pairing (23 and 24). The remaining two will then also face each other. The same process continues with the next best against the next lowest through to 15th/16th against 17th/18th.
At the same time, each adjustment is assigned an appearance of the raffle (silver and blue), which is then used for possible opponent in the last 16, through which the most sensible 8 are paired (first/second, third/ /Fourth, fifth/sixth and seventh/8h), with one assigned to the silver or blue route.
The positions of the agreements are already Pred (as in tennis) to theoretically praise the higher groups.
There are no restrictions on who can face who in terms of coverage opposite to the country or avoid the parts at war in the League phase.
Bayern Munich
Last 16 play-off opponents: Celtic
The Bavarians ultimately missed out on the top eight by just a single point, even though only Barcelona (28) scored more than their 20 goals among the league phase’s leading group.
Celtic arrived at the stadiums with the direct elimination of this festival 12 years ago and never beat the 31 Bundesliga winners in 4 attempts (D1, L3).
The victory over the Scottish champions can establish a shock of the breastfeeding Bundesliga with Leverkusen, with Atlético Madrid his other possible parties at war in the last 16.
Borussia Dortmund
Last parties at war playing: Lisbon Sporting
Unlike their Bundesliga form, Dortmund have been impressive in Europe this season. They also finished just one point at Aston Villa in eighth, and even finished two positions ahead of Bayern’s gently elegant rivals Klassiker with superior goals.
Their reward is a two-legged tie with Sporting Lisbon, who boast man of the moment and former St. Pauli forward Viktor Gyökeres. BVB’s record with the Portuguese side is three wins and a draw, having last met in the 2021/22 group stage.
If Borussia make it through unscathed, Aston Villa – where Dortmund would be reunited with former winger Donyell Malen – or Lille would be next.
Bayer Leverkusen
Latest adversaries: Manchester City, Celtic, Bayern or Real Madrid
A 6th-century finale means Leverkusen can watch the play-offs without getting involved. However, their low ranking in the 8 most sensible means they face a tricky 16 draw.
Die Werkself will face one of the most important teams in the world. If they go through, they may look opposite to Inter Milan, Arsenal, AC Milan or Juventus in the quarter-finals, while Liverpool, Barcelona or PSG await in the semi-finals.
Liverpool, Barcelona and PSG are among the opponents in Dortmund’s quarter-final, as are Bayern and Leverkusen in the Final Four.
