It’s Thanksgiving week and the Baltimore Ravens hold the top spot in the AFC after the Kansas City Chiefs lost at home to the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday Night Football.
It’s exciting for the Ravens to be in contention for the merit of playing at home in the playoffs, yet quarterback Lamar Jackson is rarely really involved in the team’s current playoff position.
“There’s still a lot of season to play,” Jackson told reporters. “This doesn’t mean anything at the moment. “
Jackson cares more about the Ravens’ situation at the end of the season, which is the biggest issue. Despite being in first place in the AFC, the Ravens are potentially one loss away from squandering only the first position in the conference, but also in the division.

Right behind them are the Browns 7-3, who have the tiebreaker against the Ravens after their Week 10 game in Baltimore. When the Ravens take the day off next week, the Browns could overtake them in the standings if they beat the Browns. Denver Broncos on Sunday and Los Angeles Rams next week.
Sure, the Browns were widely seen as a top-tier team as they lost Deshaun Watson to season-ending shoulder surgery, however, their defense is top-notch and can be enough to get through games opposed to lesser competition.
On top of that, the Chiefs could also overtake the Ravens in the standings if they can bounce back against the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 12 and the Green Bay Packers in Week 13.
So Jackson is right not to worry too much about the team’s current position in the standings, because everything can simply be replaced if the Ravens don’t mind their own business.
