Marcus Rashford’s long race in Manchester United is still bleak, with Barcelona and Borussia Dortmund willing to sign it before the movements window is closed.
However, reports (through sport) recommend that Dortmund may have the upper hand to secure the England international.
Rashford has been out of favor under Manchester United’s new manager, Ruben Amorim. He was left out of the squad for the recent Manchester Derby and has made only one matchday appearance since.
In a recent interview, Rashford admitted that he is fit to face a new challenge and leave the club without any hard feelings.
Barcelona have shown strong interest in Rashford, but their financial troubles are proving to be a major obstacle.
The Spanish giants need to sell key players, including Ansu Fati, before they can afford Rashford’s high wages. Fati, however, is unwilling to leave, putting Barcelona’s plans on hold.

While Barcelona struggles to make room for Rashford, Dortmund can simply take a position and close the deal. The German club is financially sound after selling striker Donyell Malen to Aston Villa. This gives them the flexibility to cover the £325,000 weekly salary announced through Rashford.
The reports recommend that the Dortmund consider Rashford as a key player to restart his team. If Erik Ten Hag, former rashford coach in United, takes command of Dortmund, this resolution can be even more likely.
Ten Hag reportedly believes that Rashford’s form can be improved, despite past issues at Old Trafford.
Meanwhile, Barcelona lacks time. Their aim is still to sell Fat, but if they fail, Rashford may not have the patience to wait until the last day of the moving window.
For now, the decision is in Rashford’s hands. He must choose between waiting for Barcelona or making a quicker move to Dortmund, where an opportunity is already waiting.
