Why Okafor’s loan to RB Leipzig was delayed

Noah Okafor is set to sign for RB Leipzig on loan with an option to buy, according to media reports. However, the measure was delayed due to fiscal issues.

Okafor has had a difficult season so far and when the January window opened, it was not surprising to see Milan negotiating with clubs over a transfer. An agreement has been reached with RB Leipzig, who are expected to pay a small payment on the loan. There are various reports on the purchase costs, between 15 and 28 million euros.

In any case, as reported by Tuttosport (via MilanNews) this morning, the transfer has been delayed due to the Growth Decree. This is the tax benefit that Okafor benefits from at Milan, meaning the latter have to pay less in taxes – his €2m salary comes out to €2.62m gross instead of €3.7m.

According to the newspaper, this is what the deal contains at the moment because Okafor’s salary will have to be adjusted to Leipzig. The agreement is not at risk, it is mandatory to emphasize, however, it will only take the parties for a few days to describe the details.

It remains to be seen what the agreement numbers will be, but it will do well and will be acquired through the German side.
