Pep Guardiola cheekily reminded Liverpool fans about their recent Premier League history on Sunday.
Despite a 2-0 defeat to Arne Slot’s side and an 11-point deficit in the race for the name, Guardiola responded to chants of “you’re fired in the morning” from Liverpool fans with a smile and playful gesture.
He held up six fingers, signifying the six Premier League titles won by City under his leadership, compared to Liverpool’s single title win under Jurgen Klopp in the 2019-20 season.
After the final whistle, he applauded all four sides of Anfield before heading down the tunnel.
Former city defender and Sky sports expert Micah Richards criticised Out Guardiola in his post-match analysis.
“I wouldn’t say it’s the end of an era,” insisted Richards.
“Man City is going through a difficult period. Some players let it down.
“Pep Guardiola said he was looking for a reaction and they didn’t get that. The first half could’ve been two or three nil to Liverpool.”

After the game, Guardiola told Sky Sports: “I said before this game that we should not think about the goals, but the season is long.
“We have to think about getting effects and then some players will return and then we will be better and we may achieve it. There are many things we have to fight and we will try. “
