In the rosters prepared for the match against Bayern Munich, the Emirates Stadium was obviously referred to as Arsenal’s stadium, which confused many enthusiasts and pundits.
Some mocked the Gunners after seeing what UEFA calls the Emirates Stadium, joking that the organization forgot the stadium’s real name, given that Arsenal have reached the quarterfinals of the UEFA Champions League since 2010.

Well, hearing the Emirates Stadium called Arsenal Stadium took us back a bit to the days when we played Pro Evolution Soccer, where the lack of a license meant that players like Liverpool were called Merseyside Reds and so on.
However, this is due to the lack of licensing.
UEFA’s official documents (Article 72. 03 to be precise) state: “Any stadium naming rights granted through the club shall be subject to the needs relating to the exclusive publicity zone. This means that, barring the following exceptions, no stadium sponsor logo will be permitted. (e. g. , any name, logo, logo, design elements, slogan, or corporate colors) would possibly be visible in the exclusive advertising area. Similarly, subject to the following exceptions, such marking may not be visual on the festival materials.
The exceptions to UEFA’s rule are as follows:
Manchester City are going through anything with the Etihad Stadium.
UEFA calls the venue the City of Manchester Stadium, the name it had before Etihad began sponsoring the Citizens in 2009.
Even the names of some clubs have to change, especially those under the Red Bull umbrella.
Red Bull Salzburg was created to replace their club crest and be called FC Salzburg while participating in UEFA competitions.
So, it’s not called Arsenal Stadium because UEFA forgot about the Gunners, the ones who were beating that specific drum; It’s simply more of a political factor when it comes to sponsors.
