William attempted to fight the illegal industry in pieces like ivory through his umbrella organization United For Wildlife.
For more than five years, the organization’s Transport Working Group has been working to facilitate collaboration between the maritime transport sector and law enforcement to avoid trafficking.
He is also the sponsor of Tusk, a conservation organization operating in Africa that aims to achieve non-violent coexistence for the continent and its people.
The Queen has been the godmother of the FFI for nearly seven decades, while Philip has held the same position at the BTO for more than thirty years and has been an enthusiast of ornithology.
The IFF focuses on endangered species and ecosystems in more than 40 countries and is a founding member of William’s United for Wildlife, while the BTO works to empower communities over local bird species and their herbal habitats.
Philip’s fascination with bird watching began in 1956, a holiday on the Royal Britannia yacht between New Zealand and Antarctica, when he began photographing and identifying local seabirds.
