Willian revealed the role of David Luiz to convince him of the Chelsea industry for Arsenal, while described his former Blues teammate as a “big guy” and a “great player.”
Arsenal controlled to free Willian last week by tying the 32-year-old to a three-year contract at Emirates Stadium after leaving Stamford Bridge.
The Brazilian foreigner has enjoyed seven years of good luck with Chelsea, winning two Premier League titles, the Europa League and the FA Cup, but has not been able to reach an agreement with the club on a contract extension.
She will now marry fierce Blues rivals in London, who will try to take advantage of last season’s FA Cup triumph to return to Europe in 2020-21.
Willian will soon reunite with Luiz, who moved to Chelsea Emirates for $8 million ($10.5 million) in August 2019.
The two men have forged relationships over the years, either at club and international level, and the last years of their respective careers will now be taken with the Gunners’ red.
Willian says Luiz has persuaded him to move to Arsenal and is confident that they can continue to achieve more ‘great things’ with the most important clubs in the Premier League.
When asked how his compatriot reacted when he signed for Mikel Arteta, the experienced midfielder said on the Gunners’ official website: “He [Luiz] is very happy. We played in a combination as a national team, we play in a combination at Chelsea, and now back at Arsenal.
“We can do wonderful things together, I hope, but I am very pleased to be with him again.
“He said, “Come to Arsenal, come to Arsenal, I need you to come! “So that’s the conversation.
“He’s a great guy, a very sensible player and I’m very excited to play with him again. Of course [it has helped in the past], several times. A lot of times, when I had a hard time in Chelsea, it helped me a lot.
“It’s that kind of user to help, especially in-experience young players. He’s the one who’s helping everybody.
