Neil Lennon said Albian Ajeti had a touch from former Celtic striker Gary Hooper on him after scoring the winning goal against Dundee United on Saturday.
In the 73rd minute of a thrilling attack on Tannadice, the 23-year-old Swiss, signed through West Ham for 4.5 million pounds, came from the bank to make his first Premiership appearance with the Scottish champions.
With just seven minutes to go, Ajeti scored his first green-white goal for what Parkhead boss Lennon described as a deserved 1-0 win over the newly promoted home team.
He then presented comparisons with Hooper, in medallion, who effectively led Celtic’s line between 2010 and 2013.
Lennon told Celtic TV: “We have scorers in (Leigh) Griffiths, (Patryk) Klimala is another and Odsonne (Edouard) is another.
“It looks a little more like the Hooper type, that kind of solid construction, it’s a smart finish.
“He spent a wonderful time in Basel, not so much at West Ham, but he’s coming down and it’s a new life for him and he’s going to have a genuine enthusiasm for what he did on Saturday.”
Lennon congratulated his team on their tireless quest for the breakthrough at Tayside, who they are for Wednesday’s champions League standings against Hungarian club Ferencvaros at Celtic Park.
The former Parkhead captain said: “The attitude of the players is surely wonderful and you never lose confidence in this team.
“They know how to move on, they stayed patient and were given what they deserved.”
