Woodforest Bank Stadium once it shines again under the lights of football matches

Woodforest Bank Stadium has had many achievements since its opening in 2008.

However, this year was different, as the Conroe ISD site was used as a COVID-19 verification site and hosted remote social degrees.

Things will look more like Thursday night when Grand Oaks and Caney Creek start the 2020 football season at Woodforest Bank Stadium at 7 p. m. under the lights. Schools in categories 5A and 6A were delayed on the calendar in the coming months, with seasons delayed by up to a month due to virus considerations.

Grand Oaks, who will make his Class 6A debut this season, has his first senior class. Caney Creek is run by former Conroe assistant coach and graduate Kendall Hineman.

After the Inter-School College League delayed the start of the season for schools 5A and 6A, Conroe ISD schools were scheduled for this out-of-district game.

UIL announced this summer that secure rules will be implemented for sporting events to mitigate the spread of coronavirus, including restricting participation in games to 50% of its capacity, meaning that only 4,800 enthusiasts will be able to enter Woodforest Bank Stadium. Place of 9,600 seats.

Four Conroe ISD football systems – The Woodlands, College Park, Oak Ridge and Grand Oaks – use Woodforest Bank Stadium for their home games. Several other events, such as football matches and music competitions, are also held on site during the year.

This limit is unlikely to have an effect on the best school games, one of the biggest attendances since the stadium opened in December 2019, when it hosted the NCAA Division III National Football Championship game between Mary Hardin-Baylor and Mount Union. The contest attracted about 6,800 fans.

The new rules for the best school occasions come with the selection of workers, aggregates and civil servants; remote areas for spectators; common disinfection of used areas; modification of gestures before and after the match.

Groups of students such as cheermen, instructional groups and bands will be able to participate on occasion and schools are encouraged to “limit the number of participants to which they are essential for representation”.

Spectators, and everyone else present, will be required to wear a mask in accordance with Governor Greg Abbott’s GA-29 order. The groups, explained as “no more than 10 more people, adding family members and others who have traveled in combination to the establishment “will have to move socially away from the stands. Schools are also encouraged to allow seats in any of the ranks.

Press boxes are also encouraged to be socially distant, and schools are encouraged to restrict the the media to some compliance with protocols. Post-party interviews will also require face coverings and social estating.
