RB Lepizig made the move on loan of Xavi Simons from Paris Saint-Germain Permanent for a club-record €50 million plus bonuses.
According to Sport Bild, RB Leipzig have had to dig deep into their wallet to meet the player’s salary demands, with the Dutchman now earning €12m according to the year, a new club record.
Simons’ contract, which runs until 2027, comes with a release clause, however, the club have promised the attacking midfielder that he will be allowed to move forward as long as he benefits on the transfer.
The 21-year-old has five goals and 4 assists in 18 appearances for Die Roten Bullen this season.
