Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Yves Bissouma has apologised after footage surfaced showing the player breathing gas.
The 27-year-old posted a video on social media last weekend in which he appears breathing in a balloon.
The video surfaced on Saturday, shortly after Bissouma appeared in Spurs’ pre-season friendly against Bayern Munich. The Malian foreigner played forty-five minutes for Ange Postecoglou’s side, who lost 3-2 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
“I need to apologize for those videos,” he said. “It’s a serious lack of judgment. “
“I am aware of the seriousness of this situation and the dangers it poses to health, and I also take my duty as a footballer and my role style very seriously. “
“We are investigating the facts,” added a Tottenham spokesperson after the video was published. “This will be treated as an internal matter. “
Spurs will kick off the 2024/25 Premier League season against Leicester City on August 19 on Sky Sports.
The recreational use of laughing gas, also known as NOS or nitrous oxide, has been a criminal offence in the United Kingdom since 2023 and is listed as a Class C drug.
Former Tottenham Hotspur star Harry Kane has Domininc Solanke to shine in north London following his £65million move from Bournemouth.
Solanke, 26, scored 19 goals for the Cherries last season and will join Ange Postecoglou’s side ahead of the 2024/25 campaign.
