Zenit St. Petersburg need a payment of at least €20m to sell defender Robert Renan, as Inter Milan prepare to move.

This according to the Italian channel Sky Sport Italy, FCInterNews. The broadcaster reports that the 20-year-old has a release clause of 26 million euros, but Zenit would let him leave for less.

Renan has the last call on Inter’s defensive target list.

The Nerazzurri came close to signing 22-year-old Colombian Juan Cabal from Hellas Verona.

However, Juventus intervened at 11 am. They finalized a deal under the noses of Cabal Inter.

That leaves the Nerazzurri one again in their search for a defender.

However, Inter remain the same in terms of the profile of defence sought.

Inter want a left-sided defender who can deputize for Alessandro Bastoni in the squad.

That would allow Carlos Augusto, who played minutes to the left of the back three last season, to play exclusively as a winger while Tajon Buchanan is out.

Inter have the characteristics of Mario Hermoso or Ricardo Rodríguez in a loose move to the left side of their defence.

But Sky reports that those older players are convincing the Nerazzurri.

Rather, Inter’s goal is to invest in a younger player with expansion potential.

In this sense, Renan would be compatible with the bill.

The 20-year-old joined Russian side Zenit from Corinthians during the summer.

Renan has recently returned to Brazil to play for Internacional.

But Inter must intervene and sign Renan. Sky confirms that the Brazilian U-20 foreigner is one of the big targets on its list.

The broadcaster reports that in Renan’s contract with Zenit there is a clause of 26 million euros.

But Inter has to pay that amount.

Sky predicts that Zenit would ask for around 20 million euros.

However, Inter could aim for a structured deal around an early loan or something similar.
